Whether we go to church once a week, now and again or not at all, our parish churches have a long tradition of being a constant, comforting presence in our lives. St John the Baptist Church, Shedfield is open for private prayer every day and for public worship on alternate Sundays:

  • Private prayer: the church will be open between 10:00am and 4:00pm every day unless there is a wedding or a funeral.
  • Sunday worship: morning worship (usually 10:00am) will alternate between St Nicholas Church, Wickham and St John the Baptist Church, Shedfield.
  • Sunday morning prayer can be accessed via the Being Church at Home tab.
  • Please be assured that you are very much in the ministry team’s thoughts and please do pray for us as we are praying for you.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding at St John the Baptist Church, Shedfield

St John the Baptist Church, Shedfield takes its responsibility for children, young people and vulnerable adults very seriously and their welfare is paramount in all areas of church life.

Clergy, lay staff and volunteers who work within the organisation and/or as part of the congregation are required to follow good policy and practice to ensure that children, young people and vulnerable adults are safeguarded and nurtured physically, emotionally and spiritually. High professional standards are maintained in all worship and all pastoral, counselling, educational and recreational situations involving children, young people and vulnerable adults.

To facilitate this, all clergy, lay staff, volunteers and members of the congregation working with or seeking to work with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults are properly recruited, screened, trained and supported.

The church’s Safeguarding Policy statement (agreed on by the PCC in July 2023) is below. The benefice’s Safeguarding Representative is Julia Jordan, who can be contacted on juliajordan285@btinternet.com or 01489 890 007.
