St. John the Baptist Church was built in 1875. Just imagine how many weddings, baptisms and funerals have taken place inside this lovely building over the past 140 years! The church building has served the community well during times of terrible difficulty, such as the two world wars, as well as times of great celebration.
It is now time to give something back! The building is in need of some tender loving care. The roof and the walls are in dire need of repair and maintenance and the lovely stained glass windows need some refurbishment to eradicate rust and general wear and tear over many years.
On a pactical level, the repairs need to be done all at once in order to minimise the cost of scaffolding.
We need to raise at least £30,000 to meet the cost of these repairs.
Please help us to raise this sum by April 2012 in order to complete the work over the summer months.
